Learn more about Western Metallica Resources Corp.

Western Metallica Resources Corp. (TSXV:WMS) is a mineral exploration company headquartered in Toronto, Ontario, with an exploration office in Asturias.

WMS has 100% ownership of two gold projects in Asturias; Penedela and Valledor, and one copper project located in Andalucia; Nueva Celti. The Company has an additional gold property; Sierra Alta under option to earn 55%, located in Asturias. WMS properties are strategically located in Spain, which is one of the most mining friendly jurisdictions in Western Europe. The Company’s management team has in-country, international mining and geological experience.

WMS recently launched an exploration program at its 100% owned Penedela Project. The 2022 exploration program includes a planned Phase 1 diamond drilling campaign of 2,000 metres that will target the most prospective areas of the Penedela gold deposit identified to date, a property comprised of approximately 2,500 hectares. This program follows the successful acquisition of the Penedela property, permitting and NI 43- 101 Technical Report in recent months.

The 2022 Phase 1 drilling at Penedela focused on the currently excavated, mapped, and sampled 750-metre trend to maximize success.

Phase 1 Results include:

  • WMS has completed over 640 metres of drilling, or approximately 32% of the 2,000-metres planned, at a total depth of 291 metres with initial indicators of mineralization in a pyrite-arsenopyrite vein.
  • 3 holes that were drilled as part of the 2,000-metre program exhibit gold mineralization, indicating the Au mineral is predominant in the system; the structure of the system remains open which is validated by the series of drill holes conducted in the area.
  • Hole IB025 intercepted a low-angle core axis pyrite-arsenopyrite vein with 0.5 metre at 17.4 g/t Au. The hypothesis is that it may be related to a sulphide-rich system propagating from the anticline structure core and dipping eastward.
