Orford Mining announced the completion of its summer 2019 exploration program at its Qiqavik gold project in northern Quebec, which continues to define shear-hosted gold mineralization in near-surface drilling. With the identification of thick structural zones coexistent with high sulphidation, Orford is looking to further extend these targets. Additionally, with the discovery of new untested EM anomalies and up to 648 g/t Au in boulders, Orford is on track to continue drilling high-grade intercepts at Qiqavik.

Impact: Mildly Positive

Orford has announced the beginning of the third phase of exploration for its Qiqavik property where it is begun drill testing targets identified through detailed surface work and geophysics. We continue to view Orford as an inexpensive call option on district scale exploration, which we believe could re-rate the company’s share price on the first hint of drilling success. Having Alamos Gold validate the investment thesis earlier this year only adds to our certainty that it is only a matter of time.

Thick gold intercepts warrant follow up work in Quebec; Carolina drilling also hit thick zones of low grade gold. The company announced results of the 2018 drilling and mapping program on its Qiqavik property in northern Quebec. Although very early days, the company is methodically progressing exploration at Qiqavik. In addition, they provided an update on the Jones Keystone and Landrum Faulkner drilling in the Carolinas. Qiqavik’s results continue to highlight this projects potential and with only ~16 weeks’ work completed to date, follow-up is needed.
